Episode 79

Greetings. I’ve returned with the latest edition of the series. This episode was the most eclectic in selection and song-order in quite a while. For the near-term, at least, I hope to lean into the latter trait and not be so orthodox in my tracking. Time will tell if I stay true to this goal.

We start off with a fair amount of body music before lurching into a glut of black metal interpretations. Following that I wanted to slow things down before finishing off with some dirging and noisy punk selections. Hopefully it’s to your liking, but if not there’s always next month.

That being said I will return the first Wednesday of March with the next strike. Onward.

Welcome to the final episode of 2025. It was nearly the final episode of this series but I’ve decided to carry on; hopefully with a new computer to facilitate this monstrosity. Please, Santa Baby.

This month’s installment is admittedly a lil clunky in the transitions of sound/theme. I trust you’ll be able to soldier through if you’ve made it this far. Episode 70

Getting this month’s episode in at the last moment. Hopefully you haven’t been waiting too long. This installment has a strong rock music foundation I’d say. There aren’t too many

oddities this month, but that’s not a bad thing. I’d say it’s actually a rather upbeat affair save for the end. But that’s for you to suss out, I suppose.

Episode 61

Greetings, with this episode Anxiety Eternal has been a festering sore on the face of society for five years. Much has changed in the world-at-large (and in your selector’s corner) in the past half decade and I appreciate all who have taken the ride. That being said, the music is the focus here, not reflection.

With Summer in full swing I felt the need to inject some speed into the mix which I feel has been lacking of late. Worry not, as the dirges and the misery also show themselves so as not to overwhelm the senses with pace for pace’s sake. There’s not much more to add other than thanks as always for any and all support. I will return the first Wednesday of September with the next installment. Anxiety Eternal is Eternal.

Episode 56.5: Anxious Karaoke IV

Back again with the newest installment of this series. I was finally able to “hit the stage” and belt out some idiotic and garbled versions of popular music (disco-era Kiss) at a wedding some months back. Perhaps that’s why this episode seems less…bleak, I guess, than most episodes. Oh well.

Episode 52

I’ve returned after a short respite with new ugliness. No schticks or gimmicks this episode (no disrespect to the specials), just nasty black metal, depressing noise rock, upsetting experimental excursions, and punishing hardcore.

Episode 47

Another stroll down the calendar, another iteration of your least-favorite mixtape project. Does it date me that I insist on that “-tape” affix? Probably.

Lotsa punk and distortion this month. Little to be had, synth-wise; just how it goes sometimes. I found myself pleased that a number of artists I’ve long meant to include in an episode found themselves to be.

That’s all I have for this week. Thanks for the continued support and I’ll be back the first Wednesday of July.

13) Leader – “Annihilus” (48:15)
14) Rema-Rema – “Feedback Song” (50:15)

Episode 41

Here it is, the final episode of the year 2022. No best-of’s or end-of-the-year lists* and whatnot, just the standard weirdness and general discomfort listeners can expect from this project.

This month leans heavily into the blackened and the punk side of things; so hopefully to your liking. I’m also pretty sure this might be the first episode with two tracks featuring female performers, which is pretty embarrassing if I’m being honest. Here’s hoping for more diversity in personnel for the coming year.

See you the first Wednesday of next month.

*I always appreciate (assuming the person doesn’t have shit taste) reading a well-curated best-of list. Please do not hesitate to share yours.
