Episode 67

Episode 66

Greetings, pardon for the delay in my return. I was out of town longer than planned and returned to my lair only for the dreaded noro virus to strike a member of my family. All seems well now so let’s get down to business.

I must admit this episode might feel a little rough around the edges. I still think all the songs are phenomenal, but it might seem a bit odder than usual the order of things. Oh well, right?

Episode 64

Greetings. I love doing this thing on the first Wednesday of every month. Anyway, I won’t wade into the failings of US electoral politics, there’s enough gloom in these songs. The short of it would be the first half is heavy on post-punk and its off-shoots; the second half is heavy on metal and punk off-shoots. Episode 61

Greetings, with this episode Anxiety Eternal has been a festering sore on the face of society for five years. Much has changed in the world-at-large (and in your selector’s corner) in the past half decade and I appreciate all who have taken the ride. That being said, the music is the focus here, not reflection.

With Summer in full swing I felt the need to inject some speed into the mix which I feel has been lacking of late. Worry not, as the dirges and the misery also show themselves so as not to overwhelm the senses with pace for pace’s sake. Episode 57

Hello once again. Hopefully the all-covers episode treated you well and you were left filled with mirth and nostalgia. But it is time to return to form.

Episode 56

Welcome back. This month’s installment is heavy on guitars and snarls. I’m starting to think that I need to bring out the magnifying glass for more electronically-inclined sounds as they’ve been sorely lacking the last few months. This shouldn’t be misconstrued as an indictment of March’s contribution to the AE oeuvre; crunch and gristle are welcomed in these parts and hopefully you feel the same.

Do the colder months (this query only applies to us in the Northern Hemisphere, I guess) make you covet certain sounds? I find my listening trends follow the climate to a certain extent. But, contrarianism abounds.

Greetings! I’ve returned with more filth for the lot of you’s. This month is pretty orthodox in its “darkness” on side one with primarily black and death metal tracks. Side two is when things go a bit off the rails (hopefully in a good way). But that tends to be my “process” for better or worse.

As for my monthly weather report–we got snow and it’s been cold. I am in my element so maybe that means this episode also sounds more jubilant somehow (?).
