Episode 79

Greetings. I’ve returned with the latest edition of the series. This episode was the most eclectic in selection and song-order in quite a while. For the near-term, at least, I hope to lean into the latter trait and not be so orthodox in my tracking. Time will tell if I stay true to this goal.

We start off with a fair amount of body music before lurching into a glut of black metal interpretations. Following that I wanted to slow things down before finishing off with some dirging and noisy punk selections. Hopefully it’s to your liking, but if not there’s always next month.

That being said I will return the first Wednesday of March with the next strike. Onward.

Welcome to the final episode of 2025. It was nearly the final episode of this series but I’ve decided to carry on; hopefully with a new computer to facilitate this monstrosity. Please, Santa Baby.

This month’s installment is admittedly a lil clunky in the transitions of sound/theme. I trust you’ll be able to soldier through if you’ve made it this far. Episode 73

Six years in the can and still going strong. I am finally over the halfway point at which point I can dubiously claim I’ve been at this for nearly a decade; or, if in a moment of embarrassment, it’s been “just a few years.”

Some house-cleaning to get out of the way first. It is currently a temperate 80 degrees in NYC but there is a surge in air pollution due to Canadian wildfires. So it goes. Can’t win ’em all.

As for this month’s song selections, I kept it to the basics for this “momentous” (ha!) occasion. I just looked it up and some not-shady-looking websites informed me that the sixth anniversary is the “iron” anniversary. Naturally I’ve decided to provide you maniacs with nearly an hour of death metal, grindcore, black metal, and doom metal. But, sticking with tradition/ethos, I did trojan horse some weird electronic/experimental pieces in at the end.

That’s all I have for this month. Thank you for any and all support–past, present, and future. I will return the first Wednesday of September. Onward.

Episode 69

The sexiest episode in the entire history of A•E is now at your disposal. Not due to any actual content, but because I’m a simpleton at the end of the day. I am a sucker for low-hanging fruit and here we are.

This episode features a perhaps more-than-healthy dose of the synthesized beeps and mashes to accompany the regular distorted noise that is a staple of this project. That’s great.

I am also writing this from the past as travel plans require I finish this episode earlier than usual. Hopefully the kleptocrats currently empowered will not be so emboldened as to outlaw this seditious blasphemy. Anyway, here’s the heresy.

Thanks as always for the continued support, I will return the first Wednesday of April.

Episode 66

Greetings, pardon for the delay in my return. I was out of town longer than planned and returned to my lair only for the dreaded noro virus to strike a member of my family. All seems well now so let’s get down to business.

I must admit this episode might feel a little rough around the edges. I still think all the songs are phenomenal, but it might seem a bit odder than usual the order of things. Oh well, right?

Some newer music as well as a track or two that I’ve been trying to get to for a few years now which is a bit of a relief if I’m being honest. Not much else to say other than thanks for the continued report and barring unforeseen circumstances I’ll return the first Wednesday of February. Onward.

Episode 64

Greetings. I love doing this thing on the first Wednesday of every month. Anyway, I won’t wade into the failings of US electoral politics, there’s enough gloom in these songs. The short of it would be the first half is heavy on post-punk and its off-shoots; the second half is heavy on metal and punk off-shoots. It was a late night in the AE dungeon so I’ll leave you at this point. Thank you to all for your continued support.

Episode 63

Greetings! Fall has returned and with it my mood has been buoyed. This month’s installment was nearly tardy as we’ve been experiencing ailments in the AE HQ so my attention had been directed there. However, all is well in the household so I have been able to provide you with another ~hour’s-worth of musical filth.

Front half is pretty heavy on the metal tentpoles of this project and the second half is steeped in punk and its numerous offshoots. Revolutionary stuff, I tell ya. I think you’ll enjoy it.

Not much else to say but thanks as always for any and all support. I will return sooner than usual as October also features my annual dark ambient/dungeon synth/whatever episode. See you then.

Episode 60

Greetings, faithful listeners. This episode marks the completion of the fifth cycle of the Anxiety Eternal psy-op. I hope this missive finds you well in this hellscape we call the present day.

To my tinnitus-addled ears this episode is as close to a representative example of the AE ethos as I’ve been able to muster for quite some time. This project is largely an of-the-moment exercise that isn’t always as diverse as I’d wish; time will routinely preclude me from checking as many genre boxes as I’d like while maintaining cohesion. Hopefully the sonic trail I lead you down isn’t too uneven.

With that being said, thanks to any and all support these past five years. I will return the first Wednesday of August with the next installment.

Episode 55

Greetings! I’ve returned with more filth for the lot of you’s. This month is pretty orthodox in its “darkness” on side one with primarily black and death metal tracks. Side two is when things go a bit off the rails (hopefully in a good way). But that tends to be my “process” for better or worse.

As for my monthly weather report–we got snow and it’s been cold. I am in my element so maybe that means this episode also sounds more jubilant somehow (?).
